Can we still Trust The Process?

In the summer of 2013, the reign of Sam Hinkie started. After missing out on the playoffs by 4 games. The Sixers brought in a new general manager in Sam Hinkie. Sam Hinkie had a new idea, an idea that wasn’t used very often before him. Tanking, purposely losing games to have a better chance at the number 1 overall pick in the nba draft.

After winning 34 games in the previous season, the sixers had managed to only win 19 games in the 2013-2014 season. The Philadelphia 76ers had the 2nd best odds to win the lottery but got the 3rd pick. Although we didn’t get the first pick, we got the best player in the draft, Joel Embiid but, Embiid had broken a bone in his foot and was ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Without Joel Embiid in the 2014-2015 season, the 76ers managed to get 18 wins just one less than the season prior but still weren’t the worst team. The 76ers had the 3rd overall pick and when they were on the clock, players like Kristaps Porzingis, Myles Turner and Devin Booker were still on the board but they chose Jahlil Okafor. At the beginning of the next season, Joel Embiid had injured himself again and was ruled out for the whole season.

The next season they won a massive total of 10 games. They finally got the first overall pick, drafted the best player in Ben Simmons but he got injured. That season, the 76ers managed to win 28 games which got them the 3rd pick but they sent pick 3 and a future first round pick to the Boston Celtics for the first pick and drafted a bust in Markelle Fultz when they could’ve had a superstar in Jayson Tatum at pick 3.

The next two seasons, the 76ers had great regular season runs making the playoffs but had disappointing ends to their playoff runs. This season, the 76ers have been terrible all around still managing to get the 6 seed and getting swept by Boston in round 1.

The question remains, can we still trust the process? Can we trust Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons together? The answer is, yes we can if a few valuable changes happen. Ben and Joel have missed a total of 37 regular season games due to injuries and Ben had missed the whole playoff series against Boston. If the sixers rebuild their front office, trade Tobias Harris and Al Horford for shooters and experienced starters/bench players. We can still trust Joel and Ben for a season or two. Although, we might’ve watched the final Philadelphia 76ers game where Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid have been playing together in the same team.
