The Flyers have defeated the Montréal Canadiens in 6 games as they advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. For the most part of the series, the flyers were struggling early on and had to find a rythm and ended up finding it. In game 1 the flyers scored early has Jakub Voracek deflected a shot from Ivan Provorov on the powerplay to open the series scoring. Weber answered back in the second period as Farabee went on and scored the game winner sixteen seconds later. Game 2 was one to forget for Philadelphia as they lost 5-0 with goals from, Tatar (2), Kotkaniemi (2) and Armia. Post game Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault stated, ” I saw toward the end of the game there, where Kirk Muller, they’ve got a 5-0 lead and he puts his No. 1 powerplay on the ice. We had embarrassed ourselves enough, I don’t think we needed to get embarrassed more. I’m gonna make sure my team is very aware of that next game.” The flyers bounced back in game 3 as they win 1-0 with a goal from Voracek only 5:21 into the game. Carter Hart stood tall and secured the shutout. In game 4 we relive the Carter Hart greatness as he gets a 29 save shutout as he picks up his second in 2 games. The goals came from Raffl and Myers. Game 5 Montreal was on brink of elimination. Coming into this one it seemed that Hart was unbeatable but the Habs show us otherwise as they defeat the Flyers 5-3 in a game full of penalties. The Flyers picked up 2 double-minors and the Canadiens pick up a 5 minute major as Jesperi Kotkaniemi layed a dirty hit on Flyers defensemen Travis Sanheim. Late in the third Matt Niskanen cross checked Brendan Gallagher in the mouth and did not get awarded a penalty. Later on, though, Niskanen got a 1 game suspension and Gallagher suffered a broken jaw. In game 6 the Flyers were on fire in the first 5 minutes taking an early 2-0 lead with goals from Provorov and Hayes. The Flyers ended up taking the game 3-2 and winning the series. Although the Flyers won the series their Powerplay was awful and need to improve before they face the Islanders in game 1 Monday at 7PM EST.
