The Sixers faced off against the dreaded Boston Celtics on Monday in Game 1 of the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Sixers recorded thirteen first half turnovers, additionally Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown scored a combined sixty-one points. The Sixers lost the game 101-109.
The Sixers are looking to even up the series score to 1-1 tonight. The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 ET.
For the 76ers to come out on top tonight, it is important that they give Joel Embiid the ball in the paint and let him dominate. It seemed in the fourth quarter that the Sixers had a hard time getting the ball to Embiid. In my opinion, a major reason why the Sixers got out scored by twelve points in the 4th. If they want to win tonight they need to give the ball to their best player throughout the entire game.
Another main key to win tonight is to avoid turnovers. It was unfortunate to watch the Sixers turn the ball over so many times throughout Game 1. The Sixers committed 18 turnovers in the game that lead to twenty-one points for the Celtics. They need to improve in their passing of the ball and stop making poor offensive decisions. They need to be more aggressive when grabbing rebounds to not let the Celtics get as many opportunities on offense to score, as they seemed to struggle with this throughout the game.
I believe Brett Brown needs to start Matisse Thybulle in order to stick to Jayson Tatum and to be a pest on defense. Without Ben Simmons it is very important that guys step up and play top notch defense. The Celtics will miss Gordon Hayward tonight as he had an ankle sprain last game and will miss the remainder of the series. It will be interesting to see how the Celtics rotation changes in his absence.
Lastly, I feel the Sixers need to be confident and play together as a team and believe they can win despite missing Ben Simmons. Let’s go get this Win! GO SIXERS
