Tee Higgins: The perfect fit for the Eagles?

By Claudio Camarena

As the Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2019 season, many people classified their WR corps as the best in the league. But with drop issues by Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor, plus DeSean Jackson only playing 1 game in the entire season, they failed to have a single Wide Receiver achieve 500 receiving yards. To put that into a reference, Aaron Jones running back from the Green Bay Packers had 505 receiving yards. The Eagles still won the NFC East with a 9-7 record, but in majority of the games, it was obvious that Carson Wentz wasn’t able to find any open receivers.

This WR group from the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft, has great talent. The Eagles hold the 21st pick in the draft, they won’t be able to draft one of the top talents like Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb, but luckily enough the Clemson star Wide Receiver, Tee Higgins will most likely be available at pick 21.

Tee Higgins can do anything you want on a Wide Receiver. He’s very tall at 6’4″, he has very good hands, tremendous speed before and after the catch and great hands. An adequate pro comparison for him could be Kenny Golladay or Mike Evans. Tee finished the season with 59 receptions, 1,167 yards and 13 Touchdowns in 15 games, he also had 36 rushing yards in one carry.

That is a perfect match for the Eagles, the offense won’t be bad anymore! If Carson Wentz can throw for 4,000 Yards with Greg Ward Jr being his #1 target, imagine what he’ll be able to do with a very complete Wide Receiver added to their offense.

In my opinion if Tee Higgins falls to 21, the Eagles should not hesitate in taking him. The Eagles had a bottom 5 WR group this year, and improving that should be their #1 priority going into the offseason. Also Higgins’ combination of speed and tallness is a perfect fit for the Eagles offense. I’m a firm believer that if the Eagles take Tee Higgins, we will be able to elevate the offense into a top 10 unit.
